After 25 years of experience in the Recruiting industry, the largest challenge in our opinion has always been the point of differentiation and what makes one recruitment firm more unique than the other. Yet, in our belief, it really gets down to an individual and/or a group of individuals that possess a superior knowledge, not only of certain market segments they specialise in, but the candidate communities, job functions, and ultimately their own individual ability to network and market in this highly competitive employment sector. This has seen traditional recruitment methods replaced by technology, together with a greater focus on internal resourcing.
Some might say this is easy, and its “not rocket science”, but it takes an enormous amount of energy, passion, commitment, relationship and networking skills, together with a high level of resilience and patience….and then, ultimately it comes down to the individuals credibility, trustworthiness and values. This takes years to develop in a ‘tight knit’ community like Melbourne, which has generally been considered a ‘large country town’, as everyone knows everyone. And you hear it a lot, it’s no longer about the ‘six degrees’ of separation, it’s more like two to three. Social media products like Linkedin, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc. have seen to this. And, that’s not a bad thing, it just means to gain a full appreciation of an individual and/or a business, the traditional face to face contact remains more relevant than ever before.
It is with this in mind the journey our business, Max Executive has been on, and brings us to this very point, is one of a significant ability to develop critical knowledge and experience of both the candidate and client alike, which adds real value and feeds opportunity and growth, and not the ‘lip service’ and a lack of attention that is sometimes paid to it.
It’s about building long sustainable relationships and partnerships that go far beyond the next placement and commission cheque. It’s one where in our journey and maturity over time, Max Executive finds itself in a unique position where it has proven it stands by all of this and more over a sustained and substantial period of time. And, God knows we have made our mistakes along the way, yet more importantly we consider we have maintained the core values and humility to really care about what is happening in the lives of our candidates, and we care about what is going to grow a business, and not just about the performance of profits and balance sheets. It’s about their culture, values and what they stand for as a business, so we are able to be an extension to their organisation to ensure we can brand and market their business as an ‘Employer of Choice’, together with providing the individual with greater career opportunities.
