Jason Burgess – Managing Director & Founder
From graduating at Monash University with a Bachelor of Commerce (major in Finance and Management), Jason initially commenced his career with one of Australia’s leading television stations, Network Ten, in a Commercial and People role, before joining a national executive recruitment firm in both a consultant and management capacity for the best part of 10 years. He was one of the senior leaders who helped grow and develop the business to a point where it was successfully and profitably acquired by one of the largest global recruitment firms.
Jason’s next move was to be part of a “start-up” business in its first year of operation in Melbourne, where it was previously well established in the Sydney market. Due to the success in building the business and the profile of the organisation in Melbourne, Jason was rewarded by being offered a Directorship position (including an equity partnership), where he led and managed a number of high performing staff, and in his last 12 months, was part of a group that produced a record result for the region.
Jason’s final move before establishing Max Executive, was to a boutique recruiting firm which played a major part and had a positive influence in him making this decision, and to having the confidence to “go it alone”. It was positive in a sense that this business is highly regarded for not only its ability to deliver the results, but more importantly the values and integrity its business operates under.
This has now meant Jason brings with him a wealth of recruitment experience and knowledge across a myriad of industry sectors (refer to Our Expertise and Specialisation) at a mid to senior executive level. He has been both operationally and strategically involved in end-to-end recruitment activities, together with significant leadership responsibilities. More importantly, during his tenure Jason has been able to grow and develop his ability as a trusted advisor, developing a wide range of relationships and services that go far beyond the standard recruitment offering.
On a personal note, Jason is a devoted and passionate family man, and is a father of two very active boys and married to his beautiful wife. His interests outside of family and friends are associated with sport and the outdoors, regularly playing golf (not so well), tennis, squash, and his absolute love of footy (the real one), the AFL. His main weakness is he is a long-suffering Richmond supporter, so we would consider he has developed a certain resilience and loyalty over the journey. So, in working with him, you know he will be like “a dog with a bone”. Go Tiges!
